Mike, wildcatters generally tend to be speed oriented so a 9.3-.284 would be too slow for most to mess with but in fact would be a very good hard hitting cartridge for large game that could be used in a short action with moderate practical velocity. Figure some measurements as to how far a 286 grain spitzer would incroach on powder capacity when seated to clear a short magazine. Velocity would probably fall between the 9.3x62 and 9.3x57 catridges. | ||

Due to the lenth of bullets of the 9.3 and the short neck and lack of powder space of the 284, when the two are combined its a no brainer to see why it wouldn't fly...you sure want a 9.3 to handle the 300, 320 gr. bullets as well as the 250 and 286...Also 284 brass is harder to come by than 9.3x62..If you use a long action and seat thebullet out, then why not go with the 62 or 64 and have better rounds...The 284 is only practical in short actions.
