Hey guys, I'm on break from school right now, and I'm just trying to find some things to tinker with. A friend of mine said it was pretty easy to lighten the trigger on a Model 700 (this gun is at least 6 years old, by the way), and I didn't have to take it to a smith to get it done. I was just wondering if you guys could give me some advice on what I need to look for and do, I'm not big on taking guns apart, but the way my friend described it to me, it sounded simple enough for me. I'm not really interested in making it really (unsafely) light, I just think it's too heavy now. It's not a rifle I hike around with a lot, either, it's a Model 700 VS with a 6.5-20x scope on it, so I'm not too worried about the safety factor, but again, I'm not going overboard on lightening the trigger, either. So, any suggestions from you guys? Thanks in advance. I heal fast and don't scar.

The 700 trigger is easy to adjust.Below is a link to the procedure. It is recommended that you only adjust the one screw that controls the pull weight. http://www.theoutdoorwriter.com/shooting/r700_trigger_2.htm

SJ, Thanks a lot, that's exactly what I was looking for. I might try it tonight if the family doesn't stick around too late. I heal fast and don't scar.
