This is for all the old time gun plumbers who understand arcane things. It is my understanding the British L42A1 sniper rifle was chambered in 7.62x51 NATO. Obviously, this required a new barrel and bolt modifications. Were the original .303 bolts altered or were the bolt heads simply replaced with those made for the 7.62x51? I'm just curious and have no aspirations for such a project. Thanks.

Remember when I gave that briefing on the operation of the M14 rifle in 1971? And you said it was "outstanding".
A term that Cpt (later Maj) Albright also frequently used.
Now, here we are again, 52 years later, in a briefing on the operation of the 7.62mm, L42A1 rifle.
The 303 and the 7.62 bolts heads are the same, dimensionally but the 7.62 ones are proofed to a higher pressure (19 tons). But the extractor is longer, to grab the rim of the smaller rimless case.
