I have a .375 RUM in a Remington model 700 SS that has served me well on two trips to Africa except on the last trip, the magazine floor plate would pop open when the gun was fired. I have another Rem 700 SS in 7mm RM, and in comparing the two floor plates, it looks like the locking tab on the .375 is 0.037" shorter than the tab on the 7mm, measuring with a dial caliper from the end of the tab to the notch on the inside of the tab. Can the floor plate tab be lengthened or does it need to be replaced? If it needs to be replaced, can I just buy a new floor plate and not the whole trigger guard assembly? I guess this didn't happen when a hippogator was closing in on you? I really believe that is a warranty problem and I'd bet Remington will be happy to replace it. But...why take a Remington to Africa? Oh...forget I said that ! | |||
