I'm getting set to mount up my brother's Rem 700 BDL in 25-06 and have Leopold dual dovetail bases installed and would like Leupold rings. I'm not sure what scope will go on, more than likely a VX3 2.5-8 or 4.5-14x40. Can I get by with low rings or have to use medium?

He'd take some scope recommendations also. Mostly a deer/coyote rifle in open country.

Thanks,
Chris

There's a big difference in the two scopes you list

I have a 3-9x40 Lupy in low Lupy D.D's and it fits great.

Not when it comes to choosing the rings. Lows will work with either.

OK, we have a VX3 3.5-10x40 with Boone&crocket reticle coming which should fit in the low rings. If not then I guess we get the mediums.

Thanks,

Chris

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.
