Before this gets too far, I in no way intend this to be an MRC bashing post! I have a Rifle built on an MRC bbl'ed action, I intend to take it to Alaska this Fall for Brown Bear & Africa next for Cape Buffalo & was wondering what "issues" people have had with them. That way I can check/observe/fix any problems that may arise in the future. Currently I have approx. 200 rounds through it without much problem (2nd round doesnt eject strongly), therefore I ordered a Follower from Brownells & an Extractor from Williams. I might add that I have used the search function, but being at work & having limited time to sit in front of the PC. I thought I would start a post to try and simplify things and make it a little faster. Thanx for your time. I have two short actions with MRC barrels. Both short actions. One is a 376 Steyr and the other is a 300 WSM. Both missfired at least once. My 376 was firing some hastly put together reloads with some 20 year old primers. Both rounds fired after recocking. My 300WSM misfired on the same factory Winchester round at least twice. I bought it at a gun show and was using it to zero.It looked old. Both rifles were near or near new. I took the bolt out rotated the extractor and sprayed some solvent in the openings on to the firing pin spring. No more problems with either and the Winchester round that malfunctioned two or three times before fired on my first try after cleaning the firing pin and spring. Both rifles have been to Africa and did very well and are very accurate and feed well.

My short action is chambered in 6.5x284 and except for the rails being rougher than=a cob and taking thousands of cycles to smooth out, I haven't had any issues with it. So far I haven't been able to get smaller than 2.4" groups at 500 yards but I'm working on that Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. My .375 Taylor is on a 1999 MRC. The first extractor was too loose, but after MRC replaced it, no malfunctions of any kind. It is my slickest action.... MKane160 You can always make more money, you can never make more time...........LLYWD. Have you signed your donor card yet?

I built a MRC 1999 for a customer on a SS SA in 300 WSM. The action was thoroughly lapped and deburred. I mounted a #2 Kreiger 26", 1:10 barrel on it. It is in a McMillian Supergrade stock. With factory ammo it shoot .5 at 100 yards. With hand loads it will shot under .5. My customer is very pleased with it Longshot

Wonderful actions. However, the one problem I (and others) had was a weak firing pin spring that, for me, caused very occasional misfires (and damned near cost me one of my best muleys). Problem was solved by the replacement with a 30# Win 70 spring ($8 at Midway). Seemed like it helped locktime also. Jay Kolbe

My MRC1999 SA RH in 6.5X55 with a 25" H&H pattern barrel is still with Jim Dubell, but it has undergone a pretty extensive facelift. I am excited and will let you all know when it returns.
