I started a discussion here, but perhaps this would have been a better place?

What Classic M70 New Haven factory offering will convert to 7X57 with the least amount of action/box/follower work needed?

Thx.

At present I own Classics in WSSM, WSM, SA, and the regular in both non magnum and magnum. The Short Action (SA) is too short for a 7 x 57. So the next one up, the regular classic action, in .270 or .280 or 30-06 would be the way to go.

Look for an older New Haven one. Serial Number G 200,000 or less. A rifle with a Boss on it will usually be under that number. They were made very well.

If you can find a 257 Rob or 6mm Rem, the cases are the same except for the caliber. You may need to modify the magazine spacer to increase the OAL of th 7X57. That is a easy job to do yourself.
