Anybody know where I might find a removable magazine conversion for a '98?

Numrich sells three round detachable mags that are advertised as working "without any alteration" to the rifle (their words, not mine.) It says you just remove the floor plate and insert the mag.

They are on page 489 of the #26 catalog and thet cost $26.50 each.

These are a little tight in some rifles but not hard to fit. They actually work pretty well for what they are.

I don't know anything about them except that Numrich sells them.

What cartridge will they work with? or can they be made to work with more than one?

The Numrich catalog lists both long and short action mags:

Long Action: .25-06, .270, .30-06, .8mm

Short Action:.22-250, .243, .308

Says that they were originally manufactured by Gibbs Rifle Company for Mauser 98 sporting rifles.

That's all I know about them.

They work with the rounds they are marked but are not suitable for conversion to other rounds, I don't remember if the feedlips are plastic or what the reason was we decided not to modify them. I will get back to you on that.
