I installed loc-tite on my weaver style scope base for my Encore 209X50 barrel when I put a scope on it. I now want to remove the scope and install a peep sight. The loc-tite has spread and set up between the scope base and barrel. Is there a product that you can apply to the barrel that will dissolve the loc-tite without damaging the bluing??

Thanks in advance for any help...

If acetone doesn't work, I would try mild heat on the reciever and mount, this should soften the loctite and allow it to be removed.

Just take a piece of plastic like a toothbrush handle and sharpen it like a chisel and scrape it off, it will come right off, the use a little oil and 0000 steel wool..It will take all of 3 minutes...
