Doing some planning and wondering what I should expect to pay to have a Remington VS barrel cut back to 20"-22" and properly re-crowned?? What are the chances of doing this without marring the barrel?? Thanks!

if you're willing to live with a cold bluing on the muzzle maybe $65.......prices and techniques vary.....but it's not going to be a cheap thing.....possibly add $100 for a total reblue... /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." If you dont go any shorter than 22 inches I can get the barrel through the spindle of my lathe allowing me to dial indicate everything under .001 inch and can crown with out removing the barrel. The crown is then polished to 400 grit and looks very nice with out any cold blue. The barrel is wrapped for protection against any scratches. I average doing two or three a month. When you dont have to remove the barrel from the action cost is $45.00. Most properly equiped shops should fall in this price range. When you have to remove the barrel the cost should average $60.00 to $75.00. Craftsman
