Being a remington 700 it should just fall off . It's mercy, compassion and forgiveness I lack; not rationality.

Get a J-bolt conversion unit. It replaces the original Remington bolt shroud, firing pin, and spring. They are a "drop in".

if your question is how do you actually remove the bolt, the bolt release is a small sheet metal piece in front of the trigger. push it up into the stock and the bolt can be removed. then the j-bolt parts can be thrown in a ditch as suggested http://www.hollandguns.com/index.html

PS- it helps if you have three hands and a prehensile tail to do this.

I understand you question as "how do I remove the factory J lock firing pin assembly and replace it with. Remove the bolt. Once you have the bolt out, you need to retract the firing pin to the point that the groove in it's side is visible behind the bolt shroud. This can be done with an inexpensive tool made to retract the firing pin (see Brownell's or Midway or Sinclair for the various brands). Or you can retract it by catching the part that extends below the bolt shroud on the edge of a stout piece of wood (desk top) or by clamping it in a bench vice and pushing the bolt assembly forward. When you see the groove in the side of the firing pin retract from the bolt shroud, put a penny into it and release the pressure slowly. Now you have captured the firing pin in a retracted position and can unscrew the bolt shroud, thus removing the bolt shroud, firing pin and spring from the bolt body. Reverse the above directions to put the new one in. Hope that is understandable. It is faster to do than explain. NRA Patron Life Member
