Anyone getting ready to order bases from the Midway website for a Rem 798 or the MKX & Daly you need to pay close attention. They have included the Rem798 listing with the Std98 for most of their base manufactures. Problem is they are not the same base. The STd 98s have the holes closer together and made to clear the clip grove. I was looking for a matt set of Leupolds for a MKX. I saw the Rem798 listing and ordered them. Yep didn't fit. (Partly my fault I knew the 98 and MKX were not the same. But hey it was in writing ) After spending 30 minutes on the phone with them while they went to the Leupold site to compare part #s they concluded that they had messed up bigtime. Return at their expense and they will fix. I was looking this morning to see if they had changed anything and notice it was still the same and that the issue existed on other manufacturers bases as well. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

The correct base for them is the one for an FN Mauser. I have a CD two MKX(Whitworths) and three FN commercial actions, my brother has two CD's and an old Mark X. All of them are the same base, they are all Leupolds or Talleys. There is a Mauser base with different spacing I think only on the rear base. A shot not taken is always a miss

Yep that is the issue. Midway listed the 798 added to the wrong base. I know darn well that the M98 and MKX Daly FN use a differnet rear base. Just had my head up my butt was looking for matt and saw 798 and said to myself well the 798 is the same action as the MKX so I order it. Just didn't want anyone else to make the same mistake before Midway corrects their website. As usual just my $.02 Paul K
