I have an old Marlin model 80 DL bolt action 22. Lately, it takes two hits on the rim to get a shell to fire. (I try to fire it as usual. I get a click instead of a bang. I lift then drop the bolt handle to recock the gun. Then it fires on the second trigger pull.) I dissassembled the bolt. The firing pin spring measures .048" wire diameter, .380" coil diameter o.d., and 2.625" overall length. I would assume the spring was originally longer than that, but it must have taken a shortened set after being restrained for all these years. I went to Brownells website but couldn't find this spring there. Any ideas where I could get one?

Thanks. I tried them. They are out of stock and there's none on backorder. Know of any other places to check?

You might try www.gun-parts.com/bob.htm I have bought obsolete Marlin parts from him. He seems to know the Marlin pretty well. Never rode a bull, but have shot some. NRA life member NRA LEO firearms instructor (retired) NRA Golden Eagles member
