Hello; I have a question for anyone who might know,,I have a H&R Ultra Varmiter
heavy barrel in 223 Remington,,it`s a super
accurate little rifle,,just needs more punch,
so I would like to ream it out to 22-250.
Looks like it would be easy enough,,except
for the shell extractor,,,it will need to be shortened for the larger rim of the 22-250 case.Just wondering if anyone has done this before,,or any thoughts on it,,rate of twist is 1-12...and a 24" barel length.
Thanks for the help,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Roger

Hello

I can't render an opinion on the 22-250 conversion, but there is also a .223 Improved caliber which is supposed to have much better ballistics than the standard .223. It might get you out of a bunch of extra work.

There is also the .222 magnum approach...

Don't know for sure, but it seems to me that you could get it re-chambered and then just
order a 22-250 ejector.

Then, again, the 223AI is a good choice too. I have one in a 'Cooper' and I really like it. However, the 223AI dies are more expensive.
