I would like to inqire of the forum members of their experience with Lilja barrels. I am having a 300WSM built I have ordered a Lilja barrel for it. I have used Douglas barrels on my other three rifles, with good results. Just want to try something different for this one. In addition if anyone could share any experience with a 1 in 11 twist I would appreciate it. Thanking everyone in advance! Shoot Safe, Shoot Straight....RiverRat

Dan Lilja builds excellent barrels, a very enthusiastic, knowledgable barrel maker. The recent Varmint Hunter Magazine did an excellent article on Dan and his expertise. I feel you picked the perfect twist for the 300WSM as bullets over 180gr will start to impede on powder space. You've spec'd your rifle wisely. sure-shot

I am working on a new rifle project for me, a .358 STA or Shooting Times Alaskan. My first rifle came from the Winchester Custom shop, and besides being a beautiful piece of wood with Stainless Steel barrel, it is very accurate. I had no complaints what so ever, it seems A-Square commissioned Winchester to build 58 rifles in the chambering and I got one of the few remaining at a bargain. I then found a beautiful custom thumbhole stocked .358 STA with a Winchester action and "Lilja" stainless barrel with a muzzle brake also by Lilja. The Lilja barrel will throw bullets from 100 to 150 fps. faster than the Winchester barrel and may be just a tad more accurate. I have shot several one hole groups with both, most often with a Northfork bullet. I am pleased with both rifles, but double pleased with the Lilja. I am preparing it for Alaska next year, just put an H.S. Precision stock on it and it kept shooting those one hole groups. I thought the composite stock would be more suited for the Alaskan rains. In conclusion, I am very pleased with the one rifle I have that has a Lilja barrel. Good shooting. ------------------ [This message has been edited by phurley (edited 12-12-2001).]

Dan Lilja Barrels ? I have used three of his barrels and has nothing bad to say about them, all mine worked great and gave good accuracy. I would say that Lilja make some of the best button rifled barrels in U:S. Good Luck, let us know about the rifle.
