The bottom metal is also somewhat thicker.

Is the overall height of the action the same? Meaning the bottom metal will have to be inletted deeper but will not stick out the bottom?

I spent many hours fitting a 1999 sa into a boyds laminate.
I would'nt want to do it again.

The tang is a little thicker on the MRC over the Winchester. You can inlet for the extra thickness or file it down to more closely approximate the Winchester. There are pictures of the differences on the MRC website.
