That Sports Afield magazine is what Outdoor Life used to be. A great magazine. But the price will kill you! They must be paying guys like SDH big money to write those articles. Big Grin

It's been a long time since I picked up a copy of Sports Afield. Last time I had a subscription they were starting to lean towards yuppy outdoors stuff like Mtn Biking.

I also enjoyed the article by SDH. I found it informative and interesting.

Sports Afield is one of the better hunting magazines out there these days, IMHO.

So ever since you are unaware that they have become a very fine magazine.

Thanks for the thoughful comments, I'm glad you enjoyed the story!

Sports Afield has changed drastically since the eco-sports days. No fishing, little bird hunting, Boddington is a regular, along with Kevin Robertson (Perfect Shot author); Tom McIntyre and Ron Spomer have columns and I've been doing a Custom Rifles column in most issues for almost two years.
The focus is big game hunting with an international flair. June is the Rifle issue with a cover photo of a CZ .505 Gibbs on a Zebra hide (just submitted), you will recognize, Check it out!
Best, and thanks again

Yes, and equally unaware of what every other magazine on the market contains. I just lost the interest in magazines. If I'm out of town on business I may buy one to pass the time in the hotel but usually just bring a book.

Ludo Wurfbain, of Safari Press, gets the credit in this case.

He restored Sports Afield to the pre-eminent place among sporting magazines it once held, and improved it by sharpening its focus on hunting and shooting.
