M70 Gunsmith recommendation...

I was thinking of having my M70 classic in 338 win mag converted to 375H&H. I know it can be done without extending the loading port, but I'd rather have it opened up like a real 375H&H.

In fact, I'd like it to be just like a factory magnum. Buying one is not an option, as I'm talking about a stainless left-handed M70, and they're kinda scarce these days.

I was looking for a gunsmith recommendation to perform this work.

BTW, been awhile since I visited this forum. Nice to see it still going strong.

I don't have a smith recommendation for you, but thought I would suggest maybe looking at that new Ruger 375 round, works in standard length action. it would get you around the high cost of having the standard mod 70 opened up. Just a thought.

Dago,

No thanks, I'm kinda partial to the H&H version. But I do appreciate the thought.

I'm curious about the .375 Ruger and went to their web site but could find nothing. Is this a wildcat? Thanks...Bill.

Jim Cloward is an old-school M-70 wizard from way back. I have two of his rifles now and have owned several others. They're superb. He's in Lake Stevens, WA. Phone is 425-334-3006.
