I have a New England Arms Pardner Rifle I want to shorten for my daughter. After cutting the stock off, where can you get a butt pad that fits? I realize this is probably a silly questuion, but I just wandered how the pros do it. Thanks Reloaders Haul Brass!

You probably won't find a pad that fits. Depending on how far you go, you may need to buy a "youth" pad and grind it to fit. http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.as...le=YOUTH+RECOIL+PADS Or, see if you can locate a small slip on recoil pad and use that. Good luck!

I'm not a "pro", but I slept in a Holiday Inn Express last night! Seriously, it will almost certainly require a grind to fit installation. Do a search on recoil pad installation and you should find some info.

Section the stock about a 3/4 inch at a time (like a loaf of bread). Save the peices and glue/screw them back on as needed, as she grows.I can not keep my 3 in pants and shoes let alone rifles stocks. Use a small slip on with some camo tape to hold it in place. Put a few wraps of tape where you are going to make the cuts, fine tooth blade to keep the chips down. If you are carful with your cuts you can all but make them disappear when you put them back on. When you need to put on the last piece once she is grown into the gun then put on a decent permenat pad

I was able to grind a Pachmayr "small" pad to fit a cut off NEF shotgun. Clemson NRA Endowment Member US Army Veteran CWP Holder Gunsmith
