great small ring Mauser, well made, good steel, only 2 lugs for the lower pressure cartridge which is a great deer cartridge. Barrel seems a bit short, is it the original military cut down? Bottom line is how it shoots vs. price.

It looks like you have got a Model 94 Carbine, the first model of swedish Mauser rifles. The short barrel is original. This rifles do usually shoot pretty good if they are in a good shape, Some links: https://lockbox.dwave.net/northcapepubs/swmauser.htm http://www.rebooty.com/~dutchman/index.html Best regards, Fritz

so even if it is a M94, the M96 stock will fit? Dave

The M94 is the shortened, carbine version of the M96, the receivers are the same. You might have to shorten the forend a bit if you want and the bolt slot may have to be opened for the bent bolt, but the receiver and bottom metal are the same and should drop in. Rob

I got one today. With a sproterized stock, short barrel, bent bolt, 1903 CG. I got him down from $100 to $80, and I thought it would be good for experiments.
