| They offer a barrel action in .22-250 web page. It's too short for the .250 though. |

The 22-250 is not offered on mini action. Only the action alone is available on the mini-mauser with a .0473 boltface. |

Short by 1/8". Bullet selection would get you around that if you couldn't jigger a way to fit in that 1/8".
Anyone offering a good synthetic stock for this? |

| I don't know about the stock, but the action should be able to be opened up that 1/8". Can't be any worse then opening up a Rem 600. I'll have to try and get my hamds on one of these. - Dan |

| I won't make a comment on good or bad but Bell&Carlson makes a stock for the Mini Mauser.

| Well I sent an e-mail to Norman at HCA, who actually built the rifle in the auction. With his permission I've copied his response to me regarding using this action to build a 22-250 or 250 Savage.
"This is the first time I,ve put this cartridge (22-250) in this action and I feel it is not ideal. Several reasons. The cartridge is almost too fat to feed well in this tiny action and the length is almost too much - it just barely fits through the top when loading. The front ring is such a small dia. that only the lightest profile barrel is smaller than the receiver. Many 22-250 folks want a heavy barrel! You could use a barrel larger than the receiver but it would be ugly! Lastly the 22-250 is pretty intense pressure wise and the bolt in this rifle is really small - more suited really to .223 cartridge head size, but I guess the people at Zastava (who mfg. this for Charles Daly) know what they're doing. When this small dia. bolt has the face opened up for the 250 cartridge head the remaining rim is very thin.
Now to your question about 250 Sav. I've thought about it a little. The 250 Sav. is normally loaded to much lower pressure, which is good but the O.A.L. is greater than the 22-250 so it wouldn't fit. If a person wanted to lengthen both the receiver openings and the magazine, and deal with somewhat poor feed characteristics it might work. Also the 250 is better suited to very slim barrels than the 22-250 which is a plus. There are pro's and con's. Seems to me to be a lot of messing around with a receiver better suited to smaller cartridges (like maybe 204 Ruger, hmmm!)."

| I received an action tuesday. After looking it over I've decided to chamber for 25BR and call it good. |

| I did a similar conversion on an original Kimber 84 and had it stocked by Sterling Davenport. The rifle action needed some twaking to get to feed, However, It did work. The same concerns about bolt thrust and pressure never have materialised. I did another conversion of the Mini Mark X from 7.62x39 to 25 PPC. It shoots very well and is my loaner rifle for young kids to shoot their first deer. I use an 85 gr. X bullet and get about 2900 ft/sec. The rifle feeds slick and is very accurate with its Pacnor barrel. |

| I tried the Mini Mauser once with a 6x45 and frankly found the action inferior for several reasons and they are hard to make function 100%...
I built my present 6x45 on an L-461 round top Sako..It works like a charm..I made it a miniture African/English rifle in design..Nice piece of wood too...then the late Tony Barnes made me a pre 64 M-70 safty for it out of a piece of bull barrel..It is a 5 lb. rifle and shoots awsome groups, it could compete in benchrest comp.
I would not consider a 250 Sav. or 22-250 in either action..I would consider a 250 Savage in Wbys smallest action..
I wish someone would come out with a small ring short action Mauser like the K.... |
