I picked up a USED Whitworth stock to use as a pattern. It has about a 3/16" cast off? Is this normal for the Factory Whitworth? As usual just my $.02 Paul K

No, it's not. I've had several and have a couple now and none have any cast. Earl

I am going to un-crud you. Since it is a pattern stock, fix it. Bondo, rasps and sandpaper are all between your desire and the 3/16" cast-off. Luck, Stephen

I believe. Cast-off is the center line of the butt of the stock being to the right(right hand shooter) of the center line of the bore. I believe cast-on for the left hand shooter. Cast-off is used often in shotguns and maybe double rifles to help the sight picture align pretty good explanation http://www.billhanusbirdguns.com/archive08.html As usual just my $.02 Paul K
