Brno barrel on a Remington Classic?

I have a mint Rem 700 Classic in 7x57. The barrel is toast, where the previous owner possibly wrecked it removing an obstruction.
It is blued as seen here.
I also have access to an old Brno blued barrel, 24" in 7x57 with iron sights. As pictured as the top barrel.

Would it be feasible to chop the Brno barrel, re-cut the threads, re-chamber and install on this Remington? There appears to be enough shank to work with considering the existing Remington barrel doesn't have much of one.

Thanks!

Measure the shank; you need 1.0625 OD for the threads, and some (like .050 at least) for the shoulder to contact the 700 receiver face. If the shanks I see in the pics are the same size as mauser threads, 1.1 inch, then, that leaves a very small shank shoulder, about .018. You need enough to keep the barrel in place. I guess you could glue it in to help. Mausers need no barrel shoulder as they fit against the receiver Inner shoulder. Rem does not have that. I see the 6.5 appears to be larger than 1.1, so measure it like I said and that is your answer.

I would use the older Brno barrel based on what I see and what you posted, send it to a good gunsmith like Dennis Olson, he will fix it whatever it takes. I have a barrel he sleeved threads and recut them to fit a rare old Mauser many years ago and its still going strong last I heard.

Thanks for your help.
The shank of the Brno 7x57 barrel measures 1.125"
The shank of the S&L 6.5x55 barrel measures 1.10"

If I use the Brno barrel I'll only have 0.031" of shoulder. A bit tight I would say...

A better option is to look for a Remington take off barrel. Seen to be a lot of them around. Will cost you a lot more to start reworking the Brno barrel. Not too many guys in Canada willing to do a Brno rework. You also have to contend with the barrel channel.

Agreed, lots of take off barrels but they are usually Sps or stainless finishes. Not very many that are blued. I have been looking.
