Is it possible to rebarrel an 1873 springfield trapdoor rifle? Just wondering.

...or better yet reline a clean original barrel. A gunsmith I know does several of these every so often. They shoot very well when he's done with them. He recently found a source for some high quality liners made with the same wide land groove configuration as the originals. He recently rebuilt an original engraved officers model that someone blessed him with. He made a set trigger for it like the originals wore.

Any info on the gunsmith that does the reline would be appreciated.

Try Lee Shaver at

He may take a few days to answer. He is on the firing line at Raton if I don't miss my guess.
