I am considering the the purchase of a used Beretta Silver Snipe 20 gauge. It has 28" barrels and the seller says it is choked Full and Imp. Mod. For this particular shotgun to be much use to me, I would want screw in chokes. Is it possible to add/convert the barrels from fixed chokes to screw-in Beretta tubes?

How much would something like that cost? Would it really hurt the future value of the shotgun? Who could do such work?

Sure you can screw choke it.

If the barrel walls are thin, it will be expensive, and usually done by Briley. www.briley.com

If the barrel walls are thicker, then there's more options with smiths and it will be cheaper.

BUT, with that great set of dimensions (20 ga with 28" barrels) why not have the chokes opened to what you'd mostly shoot (say Skeet and Modified) and use shells to do any other adjustment - spreader loads to open it to Cyl and IM, or faster loads to tighen up the pattern a bit.

I have several screw-choked shotguns and it is a rare day that a choke gets changed. My Sporting gun stays Light Mod/Light Mod, and I have a bag full of chokes for it.

Just a thought.

Unless the bores are chrome lined I would think thin wall tubes can be installed by any number of specialists.

Im sure it can be done. I would not do it. I would not molest that nice old beretta.

It would definatly hurt the value of it...!
