Specifically would it be possible to rebore a 25-06 barrel to .264 and have the chamber end up being a 6.5-06?

Reboring is a good way to breath life into a old barrel, but I don't think you can go up from 25caliber up to 26, not enough of a difference. When you rebore you need to make sure you start with a all new surface so something like 25 to 30 would be preferable.

Trouble is, reboring costs as much, or more, than a new barrel.

A25 cal needs to be taken up to .270 in order to clean up. Regards, Bill
