SAKO Extractor Install

Ok, I have installed at least a dozen Sako extractors, onto Rem 700 bolts. When I open one up to Magnum, or when a bolt lip has been broken off. Pretty routine machining job; mill .234 wide (special end mill), .608 back, .154 deep. Mill it at 34 degrees, which I now dial in with my cell phone. That is technology. Drill a .191 hole. then drill a #37 hole longitudinally, .450 deep. Easy, and no hand fitting is required. The last one I installed was 5 years ago. More or less. I also bored out the bolt nose, machined a new ring (out of a piece of barrel), and soldered that in.
However, on the one I did yesterday, I made the milling cuts and drilled the holes. Fine. I then took the extractor, pin and spring out of the package; Wow; the new ones are a LOT smaller than they used to be. Looked like tiny bugs, and the spring looked like a gnat's eyelash. What happened to these parts? I got them from Brownells.
I installed the extractor, that little plunger was so small I had to be careful not to mistake it for a piece of lint. It did all fit and function perfectly though.
It's amazing how much parts can change in 5 years. Or something like that.

Tom,
Was the Extracter kit a genuine Sako part or an aftermarket product made by otber than Sako ?
IIRC I think Brownells sells both.
Also, I think Extractor size varies relating to rifle model it's made for.

Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

Ok, I see my lame attempt at humor failed miserably.
I gave the dimensions. Same as I used 5 years ago; get it. Only they look much smaller.

I understood what you were saying. Small pieces get smaller (why I have three different pairs of glasses on the shelf), heavy things get heavier, hills are steeper and longer; the list goes on! Regards, Bill

Bill and Ron got it; my eyes are getting so that parts seem smaller!!!
The extractor I installed was the SAME one I installed 5 years ago; I bought several of them years ago and I keep them in stock. It is NOT a parts, OEM, Brownells, or anything else, problem.
It is HUMOR!. Or was supposed to be.
I put the SAME parts into the SAME milled slot cut with the SAME end mill that I always did; clearly explained. And the parts fit into the slot perfectly the first time, and work fine.
IT IS NOT A PARTS PROBLEM; IT IS HUMOR.
I will give up on this one; Moderator; please put this thing out of it's misery. Move on.
Sorry to everyone who had to read this.

I cannot believe your parts look smaller. They always look bigger to me after several Scotchs.

And the critters in the woods are much quieter, and the grouse flush much faster.

OK, so I was slow on this one but I get it now.
Can't believe you didn't post this for effect though. You got some reaction, same as often happens when you post something, discreetly poking for fun. Actually, I think you have a talent for it.
Don't go looking for an angry PM now, I don't send those.

True, the humor is brought in slowly, and subtly, so as not to invite adverse reaction too soon; it should not become apparent until the reader has been sucked into the story for at least half it's length by what at first seems like a legitimate concern (which it is). By then it's too late to back out and you will read the rest.
That is by design. It does work.
RA; I have not used the scotch enhancement technique; that might work!

I once wrote an article about global weighting. This is, of course, the increasing effect of gravity as time passes. Items which were manageable years ago, now seem like they are glued to the ground. Unlike global warming, it really does affect everyone. If I can find a copy of it, I'll have to post it. Regards, Bill.

I finally found a publisher for my treatise on CRS syndrome and they want me to send them the manuscript. Problem is, I don't remember what I did with it.
