Hi there all,

Does anyone have the dimensions/pattern for a layout template for a rigby style M98 stock?

Something like this:

I have what looks so far to be a nice piece of wood blanked out, but wish to cut it down a little further now.

TIA,

Mark

If you have a CAD program, or a friend who does, you can scan the picture into the CAD program and trace it. Thentake a known dimension such as action length or barrel diameter, and scale the tracing to the known dimension. This will allow you to take measurements anywhere on the profile. You can also convert the drawing to a printable file and make a template.

Hope that helps

Or you could do what I did when I wanted a particular design from a drawing or picture. Generally there is something in the pic to use as a reference for size and I took the pic to a printer shop and had them keep blowing up the pic till the lop was right. It mentioned in the caption of this pic what the lop was and when it was that on the reprint we had it full size. You could use action length as well. The pixils were huge but the outline was definable for me to cut the blank to follow the design paremeters. Cost me all of two or three dollars for the pic blow-up.

Thats great, thanks James!

I called them up, and the stock was just sold an hour ago but the gentleman was nice enough to take the dimensions from it right there.

If anyone else is interested, the length is 29 1/8" (+- 1/16") and the butt is 5 1/16" (or it would be if it were square and not rounded).

Now, if only the rest of the stock would be this easy! <G>

Thanks again all!

You can get an open source (free) program called inkscape that will take a jpg and scale, outline and generate a dxf file that you could import into a cad system. Inkscape is a very powerful program and the price is right. Lots of video tutorials online.

It's a Rigby Mauser...so the distance between the two receiver rings is going to be pretty standard I would have thought! There's you known distance just enlarge it until that distance is the same as your project rifle.
