Boys,

I'm trying to take my son's youth model Rem. 1100 20 gauge apart for a good cleaning. The manual says:

remove the operating handle from the bolt - Check

push upward on the carrier release button - check

push and hold in the feed latch - check

remove the action bar assembly from the tube- won't happen.

What am I doing wrong or failing to do?

thanks

Cock the gun and engage the safety. Remove the barrel, piston, piston seal and "O" ring. Remove the bolt handle. Remove the two pins holding the trigger assembly to the receiver and carefully remove the trigger group giving it a slight counter clockwise twist as you lift it from the receiver. Locate the feed latch assembly under the ejection port. Retract the bolt slightly and depress the latch. While holding the latch inward, slide the bolt and action bar assembly forward and out the front of the receiver. See if that does it.

Its been a long time since I've taken one down, but be very careful when reaching into mthe action to depress the flat spring deal on the side. There is a very sharp edge up there.
