For those in the know: what is there about the Ruger MkII that is so unappealing to custom stockmakers??

I just walked myself to death at the Tulas gun show (and saw a good number of the "Band of Bubbas"--great to meet some of you at last, certainly worth the 13 hours in the car and the heat in the building!!!)--lots of great rifles but very few on the Ruger action...

There must be something I am missing...is it the flat sides? Lack of bottom metal? What??

Inquiring minds want to know what keeps the Ruger off the "custom" list...particularly since the RSM receives so much good press...

I certainly know this has been done over and over, but opinions matter...Arthur Olds

My gunsmith doesn't like them do to the angled front screw. I have seen quite a few very nicely stocked 77's, so that might just be one of his quirks.
