I though it may get some attention to bash savage a little lol. I relize that generally speaking Savage rifles have a very good reputation and I am sure that most are good. However, I have had nothing but headachs w/ my savage 12fvl 22-250. The latest thing that happened was a damaged ejector spring. I was shooting a fairly hot load and the ejector spring apparently was thrown back deep into the bolt head and is stuck. I have tried to use a pick to "flip" it back into line with the hole, but no luck. I have disassembled the bolt head from the rest of the body and I'm not sure what I can do next asside from purchasing a new bolt head. Have any of you guys encountered this problem before and what do you reccomend doing to fix it (asside from backing off the powder lol)? I have also been told that I should consider having the bolt head drilled out slightly larger to accomodate a remington ejector pin assembly and have that installed. what are your thoughts on this Thanks.

for accuracy.....and yes....the accutrigger is a good move on their part and their new single column feeding system promises to be a good change.....but Savage still needs improvement.....they were shit.....now they're just slightly better than that.....They have a ways to go.....besides....they're fugly!

"A" typical I have 2 maybe 3 that are suffering from the same attribute. Marginal design feature at best. Correction to feed problems with Savage and Stevens needs also to be addressed. If looking for a serious hunting rifle where a second quick shot might be needed the Savage made bolt actions would not be my first choice. Fun to play with on targets and such and to swap barrels but for reliable field service , just a little bit short, but not a POS by any means. Have used a lot worse. roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

If it's just the spring that you can't get a grip on, then try using a small, coarse threaded screw. Thread it into the spring and pull it out. _______________________________________________________________________________ This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. thanks for the information guys! I got impatient and drilled the pin out but I'm still working on the spring. WIll be ordering replacement parts from midway. I'll give the rifle one more chance before kicking it to the curb. Just cant' get 55 gr'ers to shoot consistantly. gunna try 50's but if I have to go lower... there's gunna be a rifle in the local paper lol!
