mstarlingVZ24 action OK for a .338-06?
Guys,
I have two budget rifle projects that are likely to get a little attention in the next year or so. The first is a .458 AR on a Parker-Hale commercial Mauser action. The philosophy of that one seems to be evolving nicely.
The other is a 1937 CZ24. I thought I might do a .338-06 with it. Maybe a 22" bbl. Primarily for hunting in the Eastern woods.
Couple of questions.
1) Anything wrong with the CZ24 as a starting point for the .338-06? Any problems predictable?
2) Is the 338-06 ASquare (for which RCBS makes readily available dies) the same as the .338-06 that is being commercially chambered in a few rifles?
Looks like it would be relatively easy to get 2400-2500 fps with a 250 grain bullet out of this guy.
Thanks a bunch Fellas!

Marc_Stokeldit would be an ideal action for your project

10at6338-06 AS is the same cartridge. 2500 fps is easy with the 250 grain bullet. Try VV 140 for a fast, accurate load

zbrojovka brno AS v.z. 24 ...

Actually, that is the marking found on later, post occupation, rifles. You wan't the ones marked Ceskoslevenska Zbrojovka a.s.,Brno vz24.
Those were cream of the crop.
Here is my .338-06 built on a vz24 action.
