I just sent an email to Conetrol enquiring about rings. It bounced, has anyone had recent dealings with them?

Thanks, but that’s the email address I used. As it bounced I assume it no longer exists, which makes me wonder if they’re still running? My phone can’t dial international numbers

From their website: It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Conetrol owner, Don Miller. Product production and customer orders have been suspended until the family can determine what the ultimate outcome of Conetrol will be. If you have placed an order, or have paid and not received your rings, please reach out to email@conetrol.com and let us know. The family appreciates your understanding and is incredibly thankful for all of the Conetrol loyal customers throughout the years. Sincerely, The Miller Family

Ah, I didn’t see that. Damn that sucks, they’re such nice mounts. I don’t suppose anyone has a set of 30mm high rings they want to part with?

And they won't be missed; a misguided and unnecessarily complex design from the start. I've thrown many away since the 60s.

WEll...Only three parts ( some had two small screws, so lets call it five.) The popular Tallery...8-11 parts Neither condemnation or endorsement ! .I didb't ever use many, but never had any particular issue.

I've only used one set. I thought them interesting and very attractive in the end result. Quite adequate for holding the scope. Never had reason or call to use them again. ACGG Life Member, since 1985

I liked Conetrol rings/bases. I have one on my original LH Kimber of Oregon .22 I also put them on the Wife's Kimber of Oregon .22 They are beautiful. I bought another LH Kimber of Oregon .22 and stashed it away as a retirement gift to myself. I had some Kimber rings for it. Some time after I retired I put a scope on it and the rings did not fit properly. I ordered up a set from Control. This was after the original owner had passed away. I explained in detail what rifle I had to be sure they made/sent me the right set. I am very happy with all the Control products. I'm sorry to see another "gunning" company no longer in business.

I've used Conetrol's for many years on my nicer Sako actioned rifles. Here's a set on an H&R 317 in 222Rem. Kevin ![]()

RIP Mr. Miller. Never owned any Conetrol mounts but always wanted a set. Truly elegant. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

Not made for folks who change scopes like underwear but certainly elegant. I also have them on several rifles and no problems. Coincidently also have old scopes on the same rifles.

The barrels for my Mauser 66/660 had Conetrol bases and ring. Rear was the front ring of a M98, Front was flat bottom, 2 different height rings.

I have some as-new Conetrol rings and bases for Sako. The rings are universal to any Conetrol base, of course. If anyone is in need I'm happy to sell, just drop me a PM. I have just one Conetrol mount on a rifle. I have learned that if you're planning on having a scope ready for this fall's hunting season then you may be too late to start mounting it on a Conetrol. Typically takes upwards of a year, depending on how much time you have to devote to it on a daily basis. It's best to line up a couple of good therapists (both physical and emotional) to help you get through the process, particularly when it comes to the process of getting the crosshairs plumb. The inventor of Conetrols must have had opposable toes like a chimpanzee since proper mounting requires between three and four hands, at least one of which must be able to hold tweezers; and another to hold the glass of whiskey.

Nonsense, properly installing a set of Conetrol rings and bases is very easy, just follow the included instructions (also on the website.)

I mounted a few Conetrols for clients that wanted them but had to start and refuse to work with these rings as the clients could not accept why a bottle of single malt whisky was included in their bill ![]() They were nice rings and once installed a scope would never move in them but the early models redefined the moniker of QD, loosen the grub screw on the bases and the rings just exploded into pieces, sort of.

are they 30mm? | |||

One inch. Not sure if Conetrol ever offered larger rings, but, as you can see, I'm less than an expert on the brand (although they were made only 45 minutes from where I live.)

I have a bucket full of them all mixed up, but would sell them all..I always liked them on hunting rifles, they held a zero and looked nice.. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com
