If possible, I would like the approximate cost of putting a jeweled finish on one of my bolts and any references. Thanks, Lou

I've used this place a couple of times, I've been unable to find fault with anything I've sent them - and they're typically turning it around in less than a week.

Ahlmans price list says $40 plus s&h for bolt and follower. I have only used them once for a checkering job. It was well done.

Well I can’t tell you what it should cost or where you can get it done. But I can tell you that I don’t offer it to my customers. In a month or so it begins to wear off and it looks like hell. You are better off to polish the bolt and handle to a mirror finish so that it will bead off water and keep it from rusting. Bluing the bolt handle is really quite silly as the bluing is eaten away by the acid in our hands. Rod Henrickson

When I was a kid. I had the stick. I had the rock. And I had the mud puddle. I am as adept with them today, as I was back then. Lets see today's kids say that about their IPods, IPads and XBoxes in 45 years!

Yep you missed it again Rick. The jeweling just wears off in no time flat so it's a bad investment. I told him about not blueing the bolt handle for free. I'm one hell of a nice guy. Unless I been drinkin. Then I'm prolly sleepin and people just look at the floor and say "thats old Rod" lmao. Rod Henrickson

Are you sure Canada doesn’t hand out free drugs along with the free medical care?

FOR THE ONE HUNDREDTH TIME RICK0311. I CANT SEND YOU DRUGSSSS. I wish I could but its almost like shipping beef across the border! Much easier than nuclear devices, guns, children or prostitutes, but damnnnnnn it man, drugs? Especially legal prescription drugs like penicillin! You could get cured on that shittttttttt, your gubberment can’t have that happening. That shittttttttt costs 10 times that much down there.
So we can buy the same stuff for pennies on the dollar after the Chinese and Mexicans learn how to synthesize it! Your gubberment still wants you to pay for it.
Tax the company that invented it and you pay through the nose for development! To promote more development! After one pill leaves the plant the competition plant people just pull it apart and start making it. Often the new drug is better. Makes me wonder why you would want to bloody make it at all? Let the whiney bastard’s die from purple moon dust fever! I made that up Rick! Just being sure!
As is often said “I keep making better mouse traps. But some son of a bitchhhhhhhhhhhhh keeps making better mice !!â€
I talked to a putor guru of mine and he said if I spelled cuss words like this they wouldn’t show up on company stool pigeons. So we will wait and see. Rod Henrickson

I'm stone sober, awake, and love puzzles.

After rereading this discussion a couple times however, I'm left with one thought:

Huh? Confused I think I may have missed something?

What do drugs, drinking, nuclear devices, prostitutes, or cuss words have to do with firearms and more appropriately bolt jeweling? Just in case there's something in plain sight I've missed?

Tex

FWIW I have a 700 Rem. 223 that has been shot over 2500 times and the jewelling still looked ok this morning.
As far as the polishing to a shine goes it repels water and resists rust but you can be seen for 2 miles on a sunny morning.Mark

I beg to disagree here.....this might be true of some jeweling but certainly not all jeweling.
