If I was to order a short 308 barrel of 16" would it be wise to increase the twist? And would it be wise to use a faster burning powder to compensate for the short barrel? regards griff | ||

No and probably not. Twist rate is vastly more important than velocity for imparting gyroscopic stability to your bullet. Unless you are working on some really odd ball application just go with standard twist rates, probably 1:10 or 1:12 for lighter bullets. More than likely you will find that whatever powders work well for the .308 in longer barrels will work for the 16" version. The cartridge favors medium burn rates in any case, and changing expansion ratios a few notches won't matter that much. If yuro'e corseseyd and dsyelixc can you siltl raed oaky? | |||
