Iam contemplating the idea of having my Sako 22-250 AI rebored to .358 Win. I need to know if the shoulder of the 22-250 is more narrow than the shoulder of the .358 (.454)Win. I'd measure it myself, but I don't have any brass for the 22-250 AI. Any help would be greatly appreciated. DOCTOR LOU

John, my reloading book shows that the .358 is .454 @.156" from the bolt face or cartridge head. Is a difference of .001 larger chamber going to preclude me from reboring my barrel, or is there that much tolerance in most chambers anyway? Also, I forgot to mention that my 22-250 AI has a 40 degree shoulder, if that makes a difference. Thanks, Lou

The shoulder dia of the 22-250AI will vary from .455 to .460 depending on who "speced" the reamer, best thing to do is fire a 22-250 factory round in your chamber, and then measure. If you are lucky you will have a .455 shoulder which should clean up with the 358 win reamer, which also has a .455 shoulder. Another option is to do a chamber cast and measure.
