Chris is a "can-do" kind of guy but don't order anything too late in the year 'cuz he likes to hunt....unless there are other over-riding considerations Pac-Nor is almost always my first choice....quality and service.

I can't comment on their other work because I have not seen any but their barrels are excellent and at least equal to anyone else's. Regards, Bill

I had them rebarrel a winchester M70 stainless short action featherweight to .257 roberts about two years ago and to be honest I wasn't satisfied with the job. I'll say the barrel quality itself was very good, no problems there. However I had four issues with the actual gunsmithing job. 1) They cut the throat .070" longer than the dummy round I'd sent them to chamber to. 2) They left lapping compound all over the lugs and it took me a can of brake cleaner to get it off of the lug seats and out of the chamber. 3) They did a really cheesy job of stamping the caliber into the barrel, for $455 it should have been engraved in an attractive manner. 4)there was a gouge on the side of the barrel where it was chucked into the lathe for chambering. All in all it looked like someone had done a really rushed job of fitting the barrel. I feel that for the money more attention to detail should have been paid.

I'll admit that I'm the only person I know of that's been unsatisfied with their work. I used them because of the stellar reputation they have on these boards. I've mentioned this a couple of other times on this and other boards and others have said I should have sent the rifle back and had them fix it. I didn't do that because I had already waited three months for it and wanted to shoot it, I just decided to suck it up. I had another barrel job done about six months later and I sent it to Hart. For $50 more than Pac-Nor I got at least as good of a barrel (better in my opinion) and the gunsmithing job was night and day. Everything was absolutely perfectly done to my specifications by Hart.

I might consider getting another Pac-Nor barrel, but I wouldn't let them install it because of my first experience.

I wish, and wish very badly I could add something here I'm expecting my 8mm rem mag back any day now. I have used their barrels before with satisfaction, but this will be the first I've had them fit. I hope I don't get the cheesy caliber stamp bolt man received. The rifle before this project I sent to Krieger, and came back with the caliber nicely engraved and void of any machine oils etc. I should receive my 8 rem mag any day now. Rob

They did a 223 Ackley on a Rem 700 for me 5 years ago. It's a 23" SS Super Match (I think, their best whatever they call it!)light sporter contour. They fitted a stout replacement recoil lug (from someone I can not recall from the Northwest). I bedded it in the original ugly, impressed checkered Remington ADL stock, bought some Winchester brass and worked with H-335. Fireforming loads went 1/2" for five shots and my final load runs in the mid-.3's. This is the rifle that made me realize I was able to shoot better than my factory rifles could. I highly recommend Pac-Nor barrels as well as their barrel fitting.

I have three Pac-Nor built rifles and can highly recommend their work. The stamp job for the caliber is about like a factory job; I will agree it would look better engraved. The first rifle they did for me was a .22-250 .253 nk in a S/S Supermatch 1:8" twist, NBRSA HV taper, 28" long. It was very well done and has shot several 2.5" groups(5 shots) at 600 yds. The second was a .243 AI, fluted 24" Supermatch S/S 1:10" twist,#5 taper. It too, shoots very well and looks great. The third was my pet .308 and we had difficulties in two ways. Only one was the fault of Pac-Nor and it was related to throat depth. It was cut .200" too deep, and was immediately sent back and Ernie rebarreled it and turned it around in less then a week. The second problem was concerning the blackening job on the stainless that didn't stick to the Holland Recoil Lug. It was fixed on the day it arrived and was returned that day. The chemical blackening didn't work, so it was Tuf-Coated--Most of the TuffCoat pulled off with the bedding.(Yes, I used release agent).I decided to live with it since it is not visible unless you disassemble the rifle. Owing to all the trouble that I had with the .308(BTW, it shoots very well), they offered me a good deal on my next rifle--Needless to say, they are building me a 6.5-284 Norma .290 nk. as we speak.... I have been extremely impressed with their customer service.. IF something is not just right, they WILL fix it ASAP...I would not hesitate to recommend them.
