mauser peep sight
Does anyone have a picture of a mauser peep sight that is mounted on the cocking piece. I would love to have one, but I guess they are not made anymore. If someone could supply a good photo mabe I could have one made.
Thanks

DPM - I believe the Stoegers 1939 catalog had a good drawing of it; I've got the catalog somewhere around here & will look for it.

I found the catalog... Mauser made an "automatic" folding peep sight that was linked to the bolt plug and folded down as the bolt was drawn back and was erected as the bolt went forward. It seems to have required factory installation and cost $20. Parker-Hale had a better one, made for the M98 but also for the M1917 and the M-S; it came attached to a replacement cocking-piece and was adjustable for at least elevation. It could be folded down out of the way and cost $15.00 If you have a POB, I can mail you copies.
