Here's my 6.5x284 ready to scope: I didn't have the right length screws on hand to mount the Farrel 20MOA scope mount. Forgive the photo quality, I'm no photographer. It's a left handed, stainless, MRC short action with a 26", #5 contour Krieger barrel and an Accurate Innovations laminate stock. I had my gunsmith media blast the action and barrel together and it came out this medium gray color that I prefer. I'll post a critique of the components later. They made a mistake, the bolt is on the wrong side!

Actually, the bolt is exactly where it's supposed to be! Nicely done, Fjold. Regards, Wayne E. (fellow lefty)

The bolt is on the correct side. Did you do any work on the action? Will the bolt fully open when unlocked by rasing and lowering the barrel? With that barrel and stock it must be over 10lbs. I like it but I just would not want to carry it very far.

I had the action completely trued, although my gunsmith said the front ring and threads were the best he had ever seen on a production gun. He barely skim cut the front ring and it was dead flat and perpendicular to the threads and the threads were perfectly straight to the bore. The rear ring was not perfectly aligned with the front so he made a smoothing cut inside there to make the bolt travel easier. The bolt he said was a major pain, the lugs were making 20% contact on the left and not touching at all on the right. Luckily the bolt face was perpendicular to the bore and flat so he didn't have to touch that. The surface of the lugs and the rails were rough as a cob but the rails were flat and straight. I didn't have him polish the rails, I'll do that myself in front of the TV with some 1200 grit clover compound. As it sits, the gun is just a hair over 9.5 lbs and it should go about 12 Lbs when I'm done. Which is what I put as an upper weight limit when I spec'ed it so I'm pretty happy. 99% of its shooting will be off a front rest on my portable table while I'm varmint shooting so weight will not be a major deal. Nice gun there Fjold.....and I, for one, actually like laminated wood. It's still wood and that's better than synthetics IMO but the laminates just look good. Yes...not fancy walnut but for that type of varmint gun it's perfect. when you're done show us some groups and the finished product. More on the 1999 would also be appreciated. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Funny as hell considering I am a lefty that cannot shoot left handed! My father is a Vet and told me I would be miles ahead to learn to shoot right handed. I can shoot either handed with the scattergun though.

Very nice Frank! I like the way the finish came out on the barreled action. To me, most SS is to shiny. Nate
