I have a "like new," with no box or papers, BAR Lightweight Stalker in 308 Winny coming.

I've never owned, disassembled, or cleaned a BAR and since it doesn't come with a manual I am hoping for either a short course in how to get the dang thing apart and back together or a link to instructions on the net.

Yes... I am aware that I can probably order a manual from Browing and will do so but hope for a quick tutorial from someone here.

Also... I am a BIG Varget fan... Is that a good powder for reloading for this gun and if so, I want to try to duplicate factory velocities/pressures, right? Confused

TIA...

Hello,
I personally can not help you on your question, but would suggest that you give the NRA a call, e mail, etc. for they routinely publish disassembly steps for cleaning, service, inspection, etc. of rifles, shotguns, pistols, etc. and publish same in the American Rifleman.
Just a suggestion.

Yeah... I also found the manual on Browning's website and am in the process of downloading it.

Anyone have any links to articles about this rifle?

Anyone here do trigger jobs on them?

If you go to your local outdoors mega store, they should have the manual of firearms disassembly. It is published by either Stoeger or DBI, so you can find it online.

They are a bit of a pain to tear down, so you don't want to do it to often.

When you get everything apart and cleaned, degrease the metal parts, heat them up to 150 degrees and coat them with Tef-Dri by Boretech. That makes for a slick lube job that doesn't attract soot or dirt.

Varget, 44 - 46 grains with a 165-168 grain bullet will get the job done in fine style.
