Any opinions on this? Seems like alot of factory guns are being made with 22 inch barrels. Is that long enough?

kynadog, Depends on what you want to do with the rifle. If you plan on a walking varmint rifle then go with 24". If you plan on BR-type then go 26". For reference, the Rem700 VSSF is a 26" tube. Full burn should be pretty complete in a 24" tube using factory ammo. But handloads may vary. Good Luck True Eyes

My personal feeling is that a 22 inch barrel is wrong for just about any use, in just about any caliber. It is too long to be a truly handy carbine length for situations with call for a compact gun, and it is too short to provide optimum velocity if the need is for range and accuracy. I like a barrel either 20" or shorter, or 24" or longer. The 22" barrel is a compromise that manufacturers build as a one-size-fits-all, but it actually fits no use well. As for the .22-250 specifically, it's expansion ratio, bullet weights, and typical powder speeds used make it better suited for a 22" barrel than say, a .25-06, but 22" is still not a particularly good length for it; its just a worse length for a .25-06.
