I will be in Knoxville and Chattanooga this week, any places I should visit while there? Good collectible stuff.

Outside of Chattanooga, in Ringgold Georgia there is a little gun shop called Gun Traders. There is no telling what you will find in there. People are always bringing stuff to sell or trade on. You should be able to look them up in the Chattanooga phone book & get directions from them.

Easy. Benton Shooters Supply just north and east of Chattanooga. About 25-30 miles. Off of US64 in beautiful Benton, TN. Mapquest 'em for directions. I've bought more new guns from there than I care to admit. Archery, clothes, reloading supplies, knives, pistols, shotguns (some fairly high end O/Us), rifles, uh, wait, I, uh, sound like a commercial.

30 min. South of Chattanooga in Dalton, GA is Grants Sporting Goods. Great selection and great people to talk to. Worth the drive down there...

There is an excellent gun store in Athens but I can't remember the name. Athens is small enough everyone will know where it is.

Be very careful of your speeds in Benton or you'll leave a $100 donation..

The store in Athens is "Legends Outdoor Advantage". Best gunstore in Knoxville is "Guns and More" on Kingston Pike.

Though it would be well out of your way, about 20 years ago, there used to be a shop in Nashville called "Game Fair Limited" that was excellent. Saw my first H&H double rifle, first David Miller bolt action, several Dakotas, and many top custom rifles in there. Couldn't afford any, but I was able to stop by there enough to learn to appreciate finely made firearms.

I remember the huge Cape Buff mount they had right as you walked in the door. First time I ever saw one of those, too. They had a nice little library in there, too. It was an interesting, almost English gunshop, in the middle of Nashville.

I have no idea if it is still there, if it is - if it has changed or not. It would almost be worth the detour to stop by there. The drive is scenic enough and there is an interstate all the way...

Another vote for Benton Shooters Supply. It's an awesome store for being in such a rual area. It is fairly easy to find though.

Game Fair Ltd. does have very high end stuff but as DPhillips mentioned, it is several hours away in Franklin.

Dan

Legends Outdoor Advantage is about 5 minutes from I-75 at the Athens exit. Probably have a better chance finding an interesting USED gun there than at Benton, but the drive to Benton is only about another 20 minutes, so you might as well go to both....I always do when I'm down there.

Sad to say, Guns 'N More probably IS the best gunstore in Knoxville, but it's pretty small. They have a fair number of pistols and military bolt guns. You might find an '09 Argentine lurking in there. Last year they had a Model 21 Winchester for sale on consignment.... a 28 guage (!!!), IIRC. Predator Custom Shop is in the back. Stop in and say hello to Bob Howard, my gunsmith and Jimmy Ruiz. Jimmy is ex-military and specializes in the AR-15 world. They are 2 pretty good guys. There used to be a pretty good gun store right in the middle of Lenoir City, just west of Knoxville, but I'm not sure if they are still in business.

If you are going to hit Legends & Benton Shooters you should stop at Fugate's Firearms as well. It is located in Calhoun. Not too far from 75 across from the Bowater paper comapny. It is a very small shop, wouldn't take more that 15 minutes to look at everything but if you are looking for used firearms the chances are as good or better there than at Benton's.
