I bought a 799 the other week. I am pleased with its accuracy. This is a mini-mauser, but is really a push feed rifle. When loaded with a full mag, the neck edge of the second round ALWAYS catches on the top of the barrel and I get a failure to feed. The bottom face of the brass does not seem to jump into the concave portion of the bolt until it is out of sight on any of rounds 1-4 on the rifle. Any suggestions on a fix. I have had a number of rifles over the years, but have not had a bolt gun fail to feed like this. Caliber is 7.62.x39. Thanks.

Is the follower hanging up in back? Is the magazine box sized or blocked appropriately for the short cartridge? Order a new follower flat spring, either from Numrich gun parts, or from Remington. FWIW. ![]()
