Anyone reccommend a gunsmith who can put together my 338-06. I have the barrel, zastava action, irons, and firing pin bolt shroud. It will end up in a synthetic stock with a nitride finish.

I know there are some absolute artists on this site but I'm looking for someone with a reasonable price and turnaround time.

What is a reasonable "ballpark figure" to have the following work done. I need to have the barrel shortened and have some weight shaved off of it and then fitted to action and finish chambered. I would like to have the action face trued and the lugs lapped and boltface squared. Then put on the irons. I plan on bedding the barrelled action in the stock myself. Local smiths turn around time is quite long, year +.

Ray Montgomery in Grand Junction Colo built my 257AI. I had sent the action with a deposit, after we had talked. About a month or less later the UPS truck pulls up with a package. It was my barreled action, not even payed in full yet! He did an exellent job, it's a shooter. If you call, make sure to do so from 9-12, as he's working the rest of the time. HTH, Al
