jeffeossocan a marlin 336 be converted to takedown?
this is an utterly academic question .. marlin has released a trapper, in stainless and in 3030 -- which sounds like a great backpacking gun -- i am wondering if it can be convertd to takedown, for "reasonable" money?
iirc, "gunsmithing" or the nra guide, had a good article on doing takedowns ...

aliveinccJeff, I think Dave Clay can do it for you. He gets great press and is easy to talk to. I just wish he'd finish a tune up on my boat gun.

J.D.SteeleCheck out the original Marlin 1893 takedown design, it's LOTS more rigid than anything I've seen available in a contemporary alteration. Also, GPC/Numrich has one of the necessary 2 pieces of hardwear available as NOS!

Hot CoreHey Jeffe, Maybe Greg Turnbul(don't have a clue about the correct spellin' of his name). I seem to remember a flick of one in an old(very old) issue of
Rifle back when I was taking it. But that could be all WRONG!!

ThaineYou might talk to the folks at Brockman's Custom Gunsmithing in Gooding, ID. They don't show a TD on their web site, but I believe they did one once upon a time and they are big on Marlins.
