My son wants to buy a Remington 700 chambered in .416 Rem mag. The model he likes does not come in that caliber, but they do have it in .338 Win mag. He's considering buying the .338 in the model he likes and changing it to the caliber he wants. Is it possible to switch a Remington 700 chambered in .338 Win mag to a .416 Rem mag? I know it cam be rebarreled, but I'm not sure about the chamber. The .338 case has a larger body at the shoulder (.016") than the .416. personally, I think it will probably turn out to be more cost effective to just purchase what he wants through Remington's custom shop. Same action. Just rebarrel it. As far as being more cost effective going through the Custom Shop, well, I wouldn't bet on it! _______________________________________________________________________________ This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine.
