I just wanted everyone to know that the trigger gaurd in the photo is not the one that will be on the auction rifle for Maurice's wife.

I didn't want there to be any confusion in the regard. I will post photos of the work in progress.

This is the bottom metal on the Ottmar Commemorative Project. Maurice had it pretty well shaped out and I made the floorplate and fit the lever release. When Mark Stratton is finished with mounts, this will go to Scrollcutter to make my metalwork look like something!

Hi Jim. Your metal work looks great without me adding anything to it.

I don't think we've ever met, but I remember Maurice talking about your work. From what I gathered he was pretty impressed with what he had seen. Looking at the photograph, I can see why. I'm glad to be collaborating with you on this project.

Jim, that looks fantastic. Nice to see the old boy. The stock awaits. I have to cut the pad down and cover it with leather yet.

Hmm, I realize now that I forgot that part... What can I say? Guess I just got my heartrate up by all the metal work so I forgot to mention it...
But the stockwork looks great too!

Gentlemen,
Thanks for the kind words. Roger, you are correct..we have not met, but I have a feeling we will. I truly enjoy the photos of your work. Amazing!
Chic, don't know what you guys have talked about as far as metal embelishment, but if you can you should check that new bolt handle angle in the stock inletting before Roger does his magic. We may still want to lower it a little which would of course require another session with the torch.
Bill, thanks to you also. Nice to get a look at some of your finished work on here (since I never get to see it in person!!! ) hint-hint. Yup I know...when you get it done it is time to get it out the door!

Jim, I just noticed that you added a hinge to that bottom metal. Fantastic. BTW, Roger and I spent 90 minutes on the phone talking about things and he may just do a 5 panel bolt knob but he will do it on one he has and then it can be welded on. So the old one will go away. Don't know if that confuses the issue any. We also discussed auction versus a raffle and the problems inherent in each.

Roger, Chic, Jim; All I can say is you all are truely artists. Everything is simply outstanding and I look forward to pictures of the final product.

Jim, Good to see you on here ... welcome. I sent you an e-mail. Hopeing to get cranking on my Springfield project here soon.

Of course Chic probably wont talk to me now since he knows I have some maple .

If I want to loose all favor with mt wife it wont take an auction. All I would need to do is send some metal Rogers way and let him play.

Seriously guys ... great work.

Tom, you have some Maple???? I probably repressed that thought subconsciously. I hear they have good Maple back east and also heard that it puts out more BTW's than oak, lol. Have a merry Christmas. Am anxious to get whittling on your stock, be it Maple, Walnut or whatever.

Chic,

Don't panic quite yet. The stock for my Springfield is English Walnut.

However, my wife bought me a customised K98 last year which was stocked in highly figured maple (this is the culprit). It was found on a pawn shop rack. I also have some maple going onto a flintlock I am personally trying to build. Although maple on a flintlock just seams right.

I figured you saw the mauser on my pictures sight when I forward you the link to view the photos of the Springfield action.

On an asside I finally did manage to take that double flintlock shotgun to the skeet range. Actually hit some too. Boy will that gun tell you quick if your form and follow-through is poor.
