I am contemplating a .358 Norma or .35 Whelen rebore project using a Browning BAR sporter (not the 1918 military rifle) and need to know if the barrels are thick enough. If someone can measure the diameter of the barrel at the muzzle of a BAR 7mm Mag and .30-06 I would appreciate it. Basically, I need a minimum muzzle diameter of .560".

I think standard barrels are .625 and magnum barrels are .650 at the muzzle. Maybe someone else will pipe in.

Well, the original 1918 in .358 Norma would make an interesting field piece.
