I'm putting together a kids guns from a Ruger m77 (i think that it started as an "ultra light"). Anyone know where to get lighter rings than the standard ruger steel ones?

Ruger rings are so good there never really was much of an after-market offering. You can get alterted heights, and 30mm versions, but I think they are all steel.

Put 'em on the mill and skeletonize 'em.

I've thought this over in the past and I am going to build a couple electrodes to EDM (burn) some of the lower thick sections from the bottom....PM me if you want to try this some time. This wont shave much weight though.

S&K made the lightest ones that I have ever used. These weigh 2.4 oz for the pair. I do not believe that they make them anymore though. The low Leupold's are a bit lighter than the Ruger's and do sit a touch lower as well.
