Not what I'd guess is a "production piece"; that is, it looks like a one-off by someone who knew what he was going to do with it, cobbled up from unrelated parts.

Circumstances where it was found?

tin

I thought maybe from parts too but would anyone go through that much work.

My buddy bought it from "Sam's" in Jamaica Queens. He move his surplus shop to Vegas many years ago, used to advertise in Shotgun News. I think he's gone now.

I could regale you with stories about the dead ends I've pursued Wink

the top piece has eleven notches, the center disc has twelve pins, the bottom eleven radial doodads, and a common pipe and cap as a center for all. I think we'd have to find the guy who made it. The pipe and cap lends me to believe it's a shop/garage creation for one unknown specific purpose.

The pipe center is an awfully good fit to just be a lucky break, though...

Looks like the Dillon 001 prototype to me.

Remove that center plate, mount on base with bearing ala lazy susan, cover with carpet and you have a very heavy duty revolving rifle rack.

On the other hand, it does resemble the armature for some centrifugal pump or fan assembly.

The top piece looks like the pressure-plate from a truck/'dozer/bus clutch.

The radial spindles looks like gear teeth on a piece of farm equipment.

I suspect someone cobbled it together for a homemade (and quite functional) rotary gun rack.

All you need is a hole under the floor, and you are ready for 4 more years of Democrats controlling both houses of Congress.
